October is Domestic Violence month. Each year the East County Domestic Violence Coalition hosts a walk and rally in   El Cajon. The walk begins at the El Cajon police department and the group walks along Main Street chanting messages such as "Love shouldn't hurt" ; "2, 4, 6, 8 - Stop the Hate" and "It's not your fault". The walk culminates at the park on the promenade. Wooden silhouettes surround the circle and detail the lives of women and children that were killed as a result of violence they endured by their intimate partner or family member.
